About Human, In Progress

Human, In Progress is an independent digital journal exploring emotional growth, relationships, and the quiet complexities of modern life.

It didn’t begin as a publication, but as a way to make sense of certain thoughts that didn’t quite settle anywhere else – the kind that stay with you long after a conversation ends, or resurface at inconvenient hours without fully explaining themselves.

Over time, those fragments needed more structure.

The Work

The writing here is not designed for quick answers or simplified conclusions.

Most pieces begin with something small: a passing observation, a moment of discomfort, a contradiction that doesn’t quite resolve. The modern obsession with “optimising” our lives is precisely what is hollowing us out. Here, we argue something slightly controversial: being “in progress” is a perfectly valid, and often more preferred, way to live.

The aim is not to provide solutions, but to articulate what often goes unspoken, and in doing so, make it a little easier to recognise.

Our 3 Voices

Each piece on this site is written through one of 3 distinct voices — Arden, Cameron, and Tae, examining the human condition from 3 different angles:

  • The Mirror (Social Realism): Led by Arden, this lens focuses on the stark, often uncomfortable realities of social performance. Arden deconstructs the power dynamics of our friendships, the performative nature of corporate adulthood.
  • The Screen (Cultural Critique): Led by Cameron, this lens explores our shared humanity through visual storytelling. Because we live in a period of intense digital isolation, Cameron looks to cinema and media to articulate the grief, joy, and ordinary moments.
  • The Hearth (Emotional Navigation): Led by Tae, this lens provides a sanctuary for the highly sensitive and the quietly overwhelmed. Tae offers an unvarnished look at people-pleasing, setting boundaries, and the messy reality of navigating the world without a thick skin.

Intention and Direction

This is a small, evolving project. There is no team behind it, no production schedule to keep up with. All writing on this site is developed and refined under a single editorial direction. Each piece is written deliberately with attention to tone, clarity, and emotional accuracy.

If anything ties this space together, it’s a simple intention: to create writing that feels precise enough to be understood, and human enough to be recognised. Not everything here will land the same way for everyone. But if a piece lingers, even slightly, then it has done what it needed to do.

The “In Progress” Moments

We call this site Human, In Progress because the authors are exactly that.

This journal is a living document. Our perspectives will shift, our arguments will evolve, and we will occasionally contradict ourselves. We do not claim to have reached the finish line; we are simply leaving notes for one another as we navigate the woods.

If you would like to reach out, or share a quiet thought, you can reach us at @humaninprogress.lens or email human@ozzynothings.com.

We are glad you are here. Take off your coat. Stay a while.

A Note on Our Imagery

To maintain absolute personal privacy and conceptually map the abstract ideas discussed by us, all visual elements across Human, In Progress are custom-designed using Generative AI platforms. These assets are handled as digital illustrations of internal psychological states rather than documentary photography.

Disclaimer: Human, In Progress is a collaborative essay project exploring modern maturity, culture, and adulthood experience through personal lenses. The insights shared here are creative, philosophical, and experiential reflections – not psychological, financial, or professional advice.
